Tinnitus – noises in the ear
Information and professional assessment for ringing or buzzing in the ears.
What is tinnitus?
Tinnitus is the perception of sound without an external source. It may sound like ringing, buzzing or pulsing and can be temporary or persistent.
What should you do?
A hearing assessment and ENT consultation can help identify possible causes and rule out conditions that require treatment. Management may include counselling, noise protection, hearing aids when hearing loss is present, and sleep or stress strategies.
Seek urgent medical help if tinnitus begins suddenly with immediate hearing loss, severe dizziness or neurological symptoms.
